Alexander Ivachtchenko is a distinguished scholar and successful entrepreneur with over thirty five years of research and management experience in diverse fields of organic synthetic chemistry, coordination chemistry, chemistry of dichroic dyes, liquid crystals, photosensitive materials; and, for the last 20 years, medicinal chemistry. Professor Ivachtchenko led several groups of talented scientists as a Department Head of the Research Institute of Organic Intermediates and Dyes of the Ministry of Chemical Industry USSR (9 years), Deputy General Director of the Research Institute of Chemical Reagents and Fine Chemicals (4 years), and Director of the Research Institute of Fine Organic Synthesis of the Research-Production Association for Fine Organic Synthesis (2 years). While in public service, Prof. Ivachtchenko was a recipient of numerous government awards.

In 1991, in response to the explosive developments in High Throughput Screening techniques and the worldwide need for accelerated discovery of new and better drugs, Professor Ivachtchenko founded one of the earliest private enterprises in the Soviet Union, Contact Service Company, where he served as CEO and V.P. of Research & Development. In 1999 he founded the US-based service contract organization, ChemDiv, Inc., where he since served as Chief Scientific Officer.

Professor Ivachtchenko is author of 300 scientific publications, reviews, 6 books and book chapters, 2 catalogues, and is co-inventor on 200 patents. He earned his Doctoral degree in Chemical Sciences in Organic Synthetic Chemistry from the D. I. Mendeleyev Chemical Technological Institute, USSR; and his Professor degree in the Technology of the Products of Fine Organic Synthesis from the Highest Attestation Committee of Experts of the USSR Council of Ministers.
